Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some questions you may have, and we would like to answer them before your first visit.
What conditions do you treat?
We treat many common musculoskeletal conditions, including:
-
Low back pain
-
Neck pain
-
Headaches and certain types of migraines
-
Sciatica
-
Shoulder pain
-
Hip pain
-
Knee pain
-
Sports injuries
-
Muscle strains
-
Joint stiffness
-
Work-related injuries
If your condition isn't something chiropractic care is appropriate for, we'll tell you and help direct you to the right provider.
Is chiropractic care evidence-based?
Yes.
Our treatment recommendations are based on current clinical research, national guidelines, and your individual examination findings—not one-size-fits-all treatment plans.
Evidence supports spinal manipulation, exercise, education, and manual therapy for many musculoskeletal conditions.
Do I need X-rays before treatment?
Usually not.
Current clinical guidelines recommend X-rays only when medically necessary, such as after significant trauma or when certain warning signs are present.
Most patients do not require imaging before beginning treatment.
Will you adjust me on my first visit?
Usually, yes.
After a thorough history and examination, if chiropractic treatment is appropriate and safe, most patients receive treatment during their first appointment.
If further testing or referral is needed, we'll discuss that before beginning care.
Treatment Philosophy
How many visits will I need?
It depends on your condition and goals.
Some patients improve in just a few visits.
Others with longstanding or more complicated problems may need additional care.
We'll discuss our recommendations openly, and you'll always decide how you'd like to proceed.
Will I have to come forever?
No.
We do not require long-term treatment plans or contracts.
Some patients choose occasional maintenance care because they feel it helps them stay active, while others return only if another problem develops.
The choice is entirely yours.
Do you accept insurance?
We are a cash-based practice.
This allows us to focus on providing the care you need rather than what an insurance company chooses to cover.
Appointments are straightforward, transparent, and there are no surprise bills.
Why don't you bill insurance?
Being cash-based allows us to:
-
Spend more time with each patient
-
Reduce paperwork
-
Keep treatment recommendations independent of insurance restrictions
-
Offer transparent pricing
-
Focus on quality rather than visit quotas
Many patients appreciate knowing exactly what they'll pay before treatment begins.
Safety
Is chiropractic care safe?
For appropriately selected patients, chiropractic care is considered very safe.
Like any healthcare treatment, there are potential risks, but serious complications are extremely rare.
The most common side effect is temporary soreness similar to what you might experience after exercise.
Can chiropractic care cause a stroke?
This is one of the most common questions patients ask.
Current research has not established that properly performed cervical spinal manipulation causes stroke.
Certain types of strokes can begin with neck pain and headache before other symptoms appear, which is why chiropractors carefully screen every patient for signs that require immediate medical evaluation.
Patient safety is always our highest priority.
Treatment Methods
Besides adjustments, what else do you do?
Treatment may include:
-
Spinal manipulation
-
Joint mobilization
-
Soft tissue therapy
-
Functional movement assessment
-
Corrective exercises
-
Mobility training
-
Strength recommendations
-
Ergonomic advice
-
Activity modification
We believe movement is medicine.
Will I receive exercises to do at home?
Almost always.
Research consistently shows that combining hands-on care with exercise produces better long-term outcomes than passive treatment alone.
Does an adjustment hurt?
Most adjustments are painless.
Some patients experience mild pressure or hear a popping sound, which is simply gas being released from the joint—not bones moving back into place.
Functional Movement
What is functional movement?
Functional movement refers to how your body performs everyday activities like bending, lifting, walking, reaching, squatting, and rotating.
Instead of only treating pain, we evaluate how your body moves so we can address underlying movement limitations that may contribute to recurring problems.
Can chiropractic help athletes?
Yes.
We work with recreational and competitive athletes to:
-
Recover from injuries
-
Improve mobility
-
Optimize movement
-
Reduce pain
-
Return to sport safely
Our focus is helping you perform at your best—not simply getting rid of pain.

Results
When will I start feeling better?
Many patients notice improvement within the first few visits.
However, recovery depends on factors such as:

How long you've had the problem

Severity of the condition
-
Your activity level
-
Overall health
-
Following your home exercise program
Our goal is to help you improve as quickly and safely as possible.
